If you do end up going with a 3rd party antivirus. Remember to just buy the AV, never the "internet security" packages. The added bloat doesn't do much other than slow down your PC and NEVER go with a "FREE" AV like Avast or AVG.
Any idea, how often i should run this tool? and if it's important to run it after windows updates?
I love your videos and Hardentools is an amazing program. A couple things I would like to update about. Since the creation of your video the creator has released a new version 2.5 of the program. Also, I am not sure if this was possible when you made the video, but you are now able to uninstall the Terminal program though "Installed Apps" with ease. I did this right after watching the video. Dunno why, but hardening not work on my PC. It's shows that it hardened but when i restart PC, nothing changed.
I've been thinking about your video. Something that bothers me about antivirus software is it runs on the C: drive. I have no indication it is checking the other drives on the system, because they all are 0% usage in Task Manager. If they are only checking the C: drive, then it would seem hypocritical to me to call themselves a protection from computer viruses. What do you think?

Just 2 days ago my pc started showing very slow startup and shut down speed.
Even though it's not ssd it has a very fast bootup speed and shuts down instantaneously.
I have tried every optimization, and virus removal stuff you have told in your channel.
My pc works absolutely fine ones it loads but theres always this hickup when starting anything. But after it starts it's normal.
Is it a hardware problem. But I ran a hardware diagnostics but it doesn't seem to show anything.
It's started raining recently and it has become very cold. Does this has got to do with anything.

Well, I just upgraded from 10 to 11 a totally legitimate
preview copy all done through Microsoft Insider program update, and it was a
total disaster.
After 4+ hours of trying to tweak my network settings,
removing, and reinstalling my network drivers and a variety of other suggested
fixes of which none worked.
Here is what happened.
My internet speed over ethernet (before the upgrade) was 483.26 Mbps down, 23.43 Mbps upload.
After the upgrade, it was 0.97 Mbps download and 25.83 Mbps upload.
After all the time and effort, I rolled back to my previous version of Windows 10 and now my speeds are as follows.
482.62 Mbps download, and 25.70 Mbps upload. So, I am sticking with Windows 10 for now.

To harden a Windows install I use a program called GParted to erase the Windows installation

Best thing to do in windows for security is
1.create another user make that an administrator
2.change your current user to non admin user
Now you will be promomted for admin password just like Linux when user elevation is required and be running as a standard user by default.

If you want a free antivirus, just use Windows Defender. Microsoft collects your data anyway, regardless if you use Defender or not.
If you run network and host based IDS/IPS (Intrusion detection/protection system) across all your assets and importantly know how to tune and analyse it you can avoid most of these problems. Snort is a good one. I know why enterprises don't – it's too complicated / expensive until they get crypto-locked then it looks quite cheap.
For individuals it's quite easy and fun.
