Hey Ray 👋. Try using the "Strob-light" function on your Streamlight, flashlight as a timing light.😊
Looks like it’s EFI’d Aftermarket
Finally, some old school and modern performance stirred together by Ray's magic fingers. 😂
That's an El Cameano, not an El Canice-oh.
Looked like power feed was loose or clip broke which would cause stalling over bumps and would start back up when it contacted again.
Had a '80 v-6 exam, at 85k kept quitting.and no restart until cooled down. You got it right. New distrib.cured my problem including poor milage.
My so. HD an el co 305 v8 with that crappie carb with the thing in they middle
I can’t even find my old school distribution wrench anymore
You have a Barney bus.
This is 2 yrs ago. Not one.
I had a 1991 silverado that would turn off while I was driving once the truck got hot. It would also not want to start once it was hot. The engine would turn over but it would not start. It turned out to be a bad battery and once it got hot one of the cells internally would open. I also found out that once the voltage reach 9 volts the engine would shut down for safety reasons. So a bad alternator and battery were the issues
That's a fuel injection unit on their guy
Great video!
Huh… I wonder if my 84 Caprice is just out of time
Mullet vehicular business in the front party in the back
Dang, thought I might have been able to get rid of one of probably 12 I still have.
Title says “truck†but I’m not sure what I’d call it.. sorta like the cartoon networks “cat-dog†reference.. it’s a very special creature🤔; and as to the “FI-tech†it is a aftermarket TBI unit.. it’s somethin I’ve acutually thought about using myself although I did not on a intake VS the q-jet that I had rebuilt for it✌ï¸. In my mid-30’s but I’d admit that these are some of the simplest units ever built, and im trying to be an optimist as the dude that calls GMs platform gmt-400 the last ‘merican truck built due to its SBC bottom end and still willing to deal with the spider😫.. but without changing manifolds.. those actually ran pretty well at well over 250hp and I’ve seen a few last 200-300k miles on OG injectors & they were built good
Little trick I do…as long as you're meshed with the cam gear, the distributor will just "plop" into place when you rotate the engine.
That is a G m ignition system in the car right now
I don’t know where you get the patience to sit behind a Karen for 30 minutes! You’re just built different!
I don’t like when people have a stack of face masks lying around. And in the car when they’re all by themselves? Nonsense
Stopping the video at 5: 42, did anybody else catch the one and two plug wires backwards?
My '80 mino got the name "cruck
It's not a car or a truck. It's a Ute, short for Utility Vehicle. An Australian concept.
Its a caruck. Lol😂
Its a reverse mullet!! Party in the front and work in the back!
Nice, I am surprised you still have a Distibutor wrench.
I'm from the "old school",and I have rebuilt many Chevy small blocks. You don't replace a distributor without setting the timing when you're done, period.
Good old 4 barrel carb, 10 Miles per gallon…I remember when gas was 16 cents a gallon…
Love the older cars…especially the ones with the fuel pump on the side of the block…
don't sit at the diesel pump? well, if the wouldn't put the damn ethanol free at the diesel pump…
