Former Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ.), an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, generated headlines during the Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Brett Kavanaugh. In this interview with FRONTLINE, he speaks out about his reaction to Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony, his famous elevator interaction with two activists, how and why he brokered a deal to delay the Kavanaugh vote, and why he ultimately voted to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

This interview was conducted by FRONTLINE on December 12, 2018 during the making of “Supreme Revenge.”

  1. Simple: Jeff Flake was OK w/a man who had possibly sexually assaulted a woman being on the court. Flake was OK w/giving the finger to Obama and Obama’s last nominee. Flake enjoyed his Republican reign he likes the power.

  2. "Despotism is the enemy of the people. The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it. It is the presses obligation to uncover the truth about power. It is the people's right to criticize their government" – Jeff Flake in response to Feckless Leader's statement that, "…the press is the Enemy of the People " Too bad for us that Sen. Flake didn't take the path of Justin Amash and stand up to the stonewalling, lies, corruption, and hysteria that characterize the evil new party of 'R'.

  3. Perhaps we will teach a day of balance. It was sufficient in it self to see how he snapped at our
Vice president. His behavior was at very least. This was consistent with her wounded presentation . I wound not trust him to his defensive manner.
    .

  4. Most men who have accosted women act offended when confronted for their behavior, so Flake saying that Kavenaugh’s indignation of being falsely accused swayed his vote is simply naive or partisan.

  5. He was thoughtful. He considered all points of view. He listened to people on both sides. He looked at Kavanaugh's record. He considered the precedent that may be set by his actions and the actions of others. He wasn't a blind partisan. He showed true courage by going a different direction as everyone else in his party even though he was under immense pressure. We need more people like him in government, not fewer.

  6. a good man who should have gone into ministry, not politics…does not have the constitution for DC, but as a spiritual leader, pastor…he would have done well…and still can

  7. He keeps talking about an FBI investigation as if the FBI was never involved on this nomination or any other that preceded it where he was confirmed!!. He keeps hiding behind bulls**t arguments. The FBI is there to collect data and evidence to then turn to over to the senate. That’s how this works Jeff and you know it. Face it, you’re too chicken s**t to cast a vote for a highly qualified nominee who’s being railroaded by unsubstantiated allegations at the last minute from a wacky left senator.

  8. Jesus this guy is stunningly gullible! This crap all started in 1986 with the Bork nomination and the shenanigans have been rolling ever sense. These leftists I am going to politicize future nominees an attempt to burn the whole thing down!

  9. It wasn’t just that there was no evidence, except for the accusation, that Kavenaugh was rolling around with the girl, but all the other evidence supported his claim that he did not do it, When power is your god, individuals mean nothing.

  10. The interviewing blaming Kavenaugh for somehow being particin and that he would politicize the Supreme Court is shameful. It reveals his bias intentions against Conservative judges.

  11. Jeff Flake truly is a Flake. No courage of your own conviction. Should have taken the road less familiar. Now that would have been the best outcome for your legacy, and for the thousands who hardly ever get justice

  12. you clearly were not asking the right questions. It was quite a scam he pulled off, taking over Senator McCain's senate seat, to bypass the election of a new senator from Arizona, the Republican lost the election, and was given McCain's Senate seat by the Governor of Arizona by the stroke of a pen.. Appointed, bypassing any constituency. Mr. Flake should be in jail.
