  1. The algorithm where “attention getting= promoted to the top of feed” needs to change. Not the amount of people monitoring and censoring every piece of content. But that would lose FB money and they know that.

  2. Facebook is powerful and has its faults, but the interview should not have an agenda just to prove Facebook is an original sin. It would be more valuable and interesting to let her speak more freely and so much more could be learned from her tremendous experiences and insights.

  3. Facebook? Haha, typical of the politicians to arrive at the party about about 5 years after everyone left. Guys, it was an awful party in the first place, but while you’re here please feel free to mop up the vomit in the bathroom and turn out the lights. Maybe a better plan would be to go home, get some sleep and figure it how you’ll get into the next weeks party over in China. That’s where the cool kids are at, good luck.

  4. For every highly qualified (and presumably well paid) PhD on her team, that team decentrally hires a hundred "local experts" and "language specialists" via their third-tier outsourcers, who are paid a pittance (here in Berlin it's around €10 an hour) to wade through horrifying content. But hey, at least the outsourcers offer onsite psych services!

  5. How is it that I still cannot get into my own Facebook account. I lost my phone and all passwords. Had to get new phone number and email. Couldn’t access my old email because of the same thing. Had no alternate email or contact. Years of my information is in their hands. I cannot figure out how to obtain my own Facebook. How do I get back in? I need to get back in to PERMANENTLY DELETE MY ACCOUNT. Suggestions?

  6. i'm myanmar… what happened in myanmar??? have you ever been to myanmar? how many people killed in iraq war? how come we become the country for the white guys to clean their sins from the shits they did around the world?

  7. This is actually funny. The left is taking Facebook to task because of events in Myanmar? This is true Theater of the Absurd material. The more problematic issue is the creation of a surveillance society with proto-type thought police. That is the real attempt here.

  8. Another interview subject who has infinite ways of saying: we were slow to react, we're learning, this is a hard job and we're getting better.

The interviewer has asked several people about accountability and essentially, there is none. Their responses boil down to: "if people didn't like the service, they wouldn't use it."
    Yeah. Right.

  9. A comment she made — about the vast majority of anonymous accounts being used to spread propaganda — struck a nerve. FB is telling the world that in order to combat fake news, it needs your private data. And once you give it to them, they own it. It sounds very much like an authoritarian government's — e.g. China's — control.

I created an account a month ago, tried to keep it anon, with plans only to use it to log in to a different service; two days later they disabled it, though I did nothing with it — no postings or friends added, at all. Now, it all makes sense. Because I wanted to remain anonymous, I couldn't have a FB account. Still, they grabbed my association with Netflix and others. Curious, don't you think?

  10. They won't even let me say gvt in posts in N. Zealand especially when slagging them of that's not democracy keep changing the text somehow I managed it on this post

  11. Please do one on James Mason. The surge in covert cell structured neo-Nazi groups is highly being ignored, loved the latest in Documenting Hate series

  12. Facebook knows exactly what it is doing. It spreads hate, violence, and disinformation across the globe while it suppresses real news. Shut down Facebook now.

  13. So many people believe everything they read on the internet. Too bad our skools don't teach kids and college students that sometimes not often but sometimes lies are spread on the internet. To bad hillary voters are uneducated and tricked to voting for Trump.

  14. The genie is out of the bottle, and all the lawyers and security engineers in the world can't get it back in…….in real time. Facebook lost control of it's product, and wasn't that the goal all along ? unlimited connectivity has a price.
