The “TUNE UP” is DEAD! Dual Spark HEMI! (Injecting liquid

How to do a tune up on a HEMI 5.7 in a Ram 1500 4×4. This same engine can be found in several different cars and trucks. We will be removing all sixteen spark plugs from this v8 engine. This is known as a dual spark ignition system. We will replace all of the spark plugs and then manually clean the throttle body. Afterwards a pressure vessel will be filled with an intake, valve and top cylinder cleaner. When the cleaning product is then processed through the engine, the spark plugs will be removed for a second time in order to use borescope to visually inspect the pistons in order to determine the effectiveness of the cleaner on an engine with carbon buildup.

  1. I know this an old video. How much do you charge for the service. As I saw very little change. Just what my eyeballs say. Unless it's cheap " which I'm guessing it is not " I would pass. thx for sharing I know your a good mech. but this video was not about that.

  2. Ever seen the piston of a blown head gasket leaking coolant? Clean af. Water works. Also atf. Atf cleans gunk off anything. Keep rpms up and pour in very conservatively

  3. OEM plugs for the 4th gen RAM were manufactured by NGK. The original plugs back when the 4th gen Ram was first introduced were the NGK LZFR5C-11. Those plugs used a nickel center electrode, a nickel ground electrode and were rated for 30k miles. RAM, realizing their poor choice changed the OEM plug in later years to the NGK LZFR5CI-11 plugs. These plugs utilize an iridium center electrode, a platinum ground electrode, and are rated for 100k miles service life. There is also another version of these plugs also produced by NGK; the NGK LFR5AIX-11. These last plugs utilize an iridium center electrode, a nickel ground electrode, and are rated for 50k miles service life. I have seen these last plugs being listed and sold on Amazon by some sellers as being the OEM plugs which is incorrect as these are only rated to 50k miles. Technically they are still partially iridium but they are not the OEM iridium version used by RAM. Again, the OEM 100k plugs are the NGK LZFR5CI-11.

  4. A tune-up should be oil change, motor, trans filter or plug, and brake oil flushed, containers cleaned for that and antifreeze, change antifreeze, change belt if needed, and check the converters with the if have 😂 with computer, power steering flush too or take some out every oil change. Ne careful with Ams Oil trans fluid it has a softener additive that doesn't know when to stop. Talk to Precision Transmission!!!

  5. Old video but I you need to correctly torque them not just go by what you think. I could see if wrenching them down by hand so you can feel after it hits the crush the go 90° more but using specs is always better bc they will all be the same and correct. That "click it" isn't always good for every bolt. I always ran cleaner before installing plugs too…

  6. Ford, Dodge, And Chevy all place their engines so far back, you can’t get to half the plugs, why. There is so much waisted space in the front of the engine. My square body Chevy was a pleasure to work on, my 2005 F-150 is a nightmare.

  7. I use Lucas deep clean or, better yet, gumout foaming GDI cleaner. I hook these up to an stp Gdi timer dispenser that fits both of these cans sans nozzle. I run this through the brake booster hose. The seafoam cans do not fit, BTW. The gumout stuff smokes like crazy which can alarm the neighbors if it's not a windy day. And no, I do not believe the smoke is actually due to all the carbon being cleaned out.😂 Not snake oil.

  8. It may say "Hemi" and it may have hemispherical combustion chambers (many other engines use the same technology), but if it ain't a Dodge 426ci hemi, then it just ain't a Hemi!!!

  9. I’m not a fan of the cleaning solution, but if it works then OK, but I just think it’s unnecessary step unless the things seized up or something really bad sticking to try to clean it
