2. hi Chris, I managed to install steam work on ubuntu. but, on rocky linux only my 32bit horzons zero dawn works on an amd cpu. The Remastered version on rocky linux cannot load. I get all the way to the vulkan kernels compiling and status bar to the very end but then app crashes out. is there a way to look into the CLI to see what the error is in the STEAM app? I did not have any better success using Flatpaks. Ubuntu on OLDER nvidia drivers work but not the 9.5 Rocky. I need some guidance…

3. I am still a noob in Linux. I have used Mint for 3 years now and running different VFX software on it (SynthEyes; Blender, Nuke, DaVinci Resolve, Mocha), but few days ago I tried to install Autodesk Maya demo on Mint and Installer said that OS is not supported. So, I read about system requirements and found that Rocky is the best option. Today is my first day with it and I found out again how much I hate Gnome. Out of the box it is totally useless. I think when a total noob who hasn't seen Linux desktop before, gets his hands on default Gnome, he gets lifetime trauma and he will hate Linux forever (because he doesn't know that Linux and DE are separate things). Now I am thinking which flavor to install – either KDE or Cinnamon. Right now, it is early to say if I like it or not because I have to tweak it.

   I tried Rocky before, but for gaming it wasn't any good because of its security which crapping most performance. I was getting frame drops much than I got before on Debian.

6. That's alright Chris! You told that for about a year, and nowadays of 2022 it's happening, Rocky Linux proved that is one of the best Linux operating system for servers and virtualisation!☝️

9. you should build a distro based on rocky in the bunsenlabs motif so all installs can be done with scripts.

20. Rocky sounds interesting, and timely. We're a Suse shop mailyy, but driven by many of the systems at work, Hadoop not least of them, were going REL slowly, and I have a new desktop to build, pending the office move, as corporate are doing a power grab so we're moving off desktop hardware onto workstation hardware supplied by a different division. Time for a change.

21. Hey , been following the channel for a while now , I was curious about learning more about Linux for productivity and pleasure , how can I get to know more about it without just learning by tinkering with it cuz that takes a lot of time.

22. Its always worth exploring new Distros that could be better and improved. Worse case, it will keep up to date on Linux's development and the general direction.

25. Great work! I decided to follow your footsteps and use RHEL on the desktop as well. Surprisingly a great desktop experience. Really shows that distro doesn't matter as long as you hit that intermediate stage already. Thanks for the guide

Can someone please make or help me find a program i install on a new hard drive that is like a multiboot os os, mosos, that once i install it allows me to install and will after i install a new os, it just adds new installation to list and i can also run. Then if i make a partition and put iso files on it and it will run those also, maybe it even lets me make partitions too, does this exist and why not if not, wouldnt this make it easy for people to try different distros way easier? So does it exist or can it not be done? Thank you

29. Why not use EPEL and rpm fusion repository. It has most applications. including gimp nvidia drivers and steam.
