4. That sensor you pulled out is the culprit. The updated one is the metal rounded one you put in.

7. 2006 Nissan Altima has been a real pain in the ass. I don't recommend this car to anybody. I once took my Altima to a mechanic, and he's like "Where's all the lights did you erase them?" and I was like, No, why? "I've never seen an altima that didin't have all these lights on." I've changed everything on this damn car, from radiator, to hoses, to alternator, serpentine belt, the cover of the engine, spark plugs, ignition coils, I can't even think anymore, and it's always something new, once this car passed 180 thousand miles it was all downhil from there. Now the damn wires that connect to the ignition coils broke off, and I tried sodering new wires, and it doesn't seem to get the same current, or idk anymore, I been struggling with this car, simply because I don't want to go to a dealership, and I don't have that much money cash to buy a used one, plus the used cars for a while were wayyyy overpriced, so i was holding off. I bought 4 new ignition coils, 4 new spark plus, I sodered the damn wires over and over, thinking I might of done it wrong, but I get the smell of gas sometimes from the engine, there's no check engine light on, the car runs, but it doesn't run the same, can't really go uphill, shakes on idle, i'm just over it, im junking this $hit. Don't buy Nissan altimas!

9. I refer to "parts cannon" as "swapnostics" where you go through and change everything, hoping you'll fix the damn thing. And typically it fails.

12. That cam code is a hard fault. It is always there. The parts cannon may be an expensive idea, but it may solve the problem faster than rewiring the engine bay.

16. You can probably find a working Sun 1115 diagnostic machine for very little money. It has an oscilloscope and a smart tech can use it for a lot of electrical diagnosis for a low price.

18. On your scan tool you had ignition timing in the menu that would had gotten the data for the sensor.

22. QR25DE should be a tunable engine. I can get a head tuned and modified for £4,000

This motor the QR25 was doomed from the Factory look up this Engine in the 2003 Nissan Sentra SER SpecV were it Debued it had a Factory Nissan 60k recall on it were the Engine Grenades unfortunately there is a Butterfly screw on inside of intake manifold that comes loose and gets sucked into Engine causing damage to the VVT system also when that happens it starts burning oil badly going into the PreCats and Catalytic Convertors stopping them up essentially grenading this Engine I had the Car and it went 1k miles over the free replacement of Engine there leaving me 7500 bucks out for a new engine on a car i was still paying on yeah will never own another Nissan unless it was built in the 80s. THEY REMEDY TO FIX IS TO PUT AFTER MARKET HEADERS AND NEW CATS AND PULL INTAKE MANIFOLD APART AND PUT LOCTITE ON THE BUTTERFLY SCREWS

25. I got a P0014 code today on my check engine light. Which meant the timing on my camshaft bank 1 was off. I found out that sometimes, if the oil is low or dirty, it will cause that bank sensor to trip. I took my car to the shop and got the oil changed and it actually worked! The light went off and has stayed off! I went from looking at a $1,400 repair, to a $100 oil change!

27. This was a good video, thanks to it and others finally an older man is beginning to grok using a scan tool to diagnose. Been trying to stay away from complicated valvetrains etc. but looks like the time has finally come. Great stuff and thanks again.

30. Not sure if Rainman reads his comments, but whart would you recommend for a scanner for a guy who owns 2 jeeps, notorious for CEL's. Dont wanna break the bank…but with 2 jeeps I work on them when they break down. Thanks! Luv the channel, especially the jeep you are fixing up!

31. Few nissan things.

    They are slow to talk to scan tools.
    They sometimes talk to scan tools in jibberish.
    Non-oem cam/crank sensors are junk. Oem or denso work the best.

    And get yourself a lab scope. I have a 130 dollar one that looks and also works like a power probe. One of my go to tools for this type of work.

32. A Datsun B210 was my first car I drove.

33. A replacement kit from Nissan is available to replace both Cam and Crank sensors as they were on a recall notice. Metal barrel body is the correct upgrade on the sensor.
