Great job great video. Can you please give me an idea how much this repair should cost? I have a 2006 GMC Yukon thank you.
Is this a problem the needs to be fixed as soon as it happens or can I wait a week and still drive 250 miles
Chickens? Cool ðŸ‘
Good video just got have mind to do this and put everything thing where it goes
15minutes? Lol, nope. Thats an 1hr for me at least.
Yep had do this to me too , It actually was a bad sensor . Changed it and it cured the problem .
The wedding band Ray, the wedding band! Protect those flanges!!! Luv your videos!
Luv your videos!
Ray should get a cameo in the new GTA6 as the local mechanic
I have the same issue with my 05 Suburban with @170k miles.
I changed the sending unit with a new GM unit but I had opposite results. The dash board lit up and started dinging oil pressure gauge dropped to “0†then the engine shut down.
I reinstalled the original part. Besides a slight tapping that comes and goes the damn thing runs great! Am I missing something or am I doing something wrong? I’ve talked to different mechanics and they all say I’m better off rebuilding or just replacing the engine!
Would a 12 point socket 1&1/16 work??
Good vids but camera shaking all over
Can tell you get paid by the job and not by the hour LOL…great tutorial. Thanks man
I just changed mine today (06 Silverado 5.3 liter I got tiny hands thank god I was able to do it without pulling the intake and it took me roughly 10 minutes start to finish. It fixed my problem my oil pressure reads right at 40 psi now… but I didn’t check to see if I had that little screen with the “o†ring on it….. apparently some don’t have them and some do so I’m praying mine don’t but I will be basically redoing this job in the morning to check I just wish I watched one more video before I actually completed this adventure
Everyone watching make sure you thread ALL of your bolts by hand first then tighten. This man is extremely lucky to start the bolts with a power tool. Itll save you a lot of pain in the long run. Sorry Ray but you know its true man. Otherwise good video. Just trying to help.
What are other possible causes for a 2007 6.0 to ack exactly the same as this one in your video? I just looked at a 3500 truck sounded great drove great but I noticed it did the exact same thing. But I’ve just read it could be the beginning of bearing failure. The truck has 133000 miles.
Doesn't it only take like 30 minutes to change the sending unit w/o pulling the whole intake?? Even of i was working by the hour i dont think i would have taken the extra time pulling and reinstalling the intake. It's not that hard to do is it??
Ah yes the electric ratchet mechanic. He will be sure to strip every bolt in your engine bay and he believes the faster he can zip bolts off the better the mechanic he is
What a piss-poor design. All that hassle just to replace a oil sending unit??!
The guy did a good job of explaining why he took maybe 15 minutes to remove the top portion of the engine. About 8 years ago I had the same problem… So I did a poke & pray on the sensor exchange myself & still have the same, exact problem. If this guys new sensor didn't work, he would know he was sold a bad part.. no backtracking, no BS. .. I would guess I've driven my 05 4.8 v8 silverado a minimum of 50k miles since. Now has 300k miles but besides this oil pressure gauge always being maxed out.. I take good care of it. I was hoping the cause of the problem would be anything but the oil pressure sensor
Wow did mine and didn't have to take half the engine apart. In fact did take anything off.
Unbelievable, just to get to the oil pressure sender unit you practically have to dismantle the engine. No wonder the cost of repairs is so high. Once again General Motors mechanic friendly vehicles.
Have a similar problem with my 06 trailblazer. Assuming this is the problem or the gauge because mine stays way past max even with key off so hoping its not a urgent repair shop dont open until monday. Also don't you know why your light is flickering? That is how it got its name they like to flash light. I will see my self out.
My gauge read similar to this with engine off. I replaced the sending unit with the AC Delco part. Still had same issue, gauge reading 80 psi with engine off, and pegged with engine on. What could it be?
Thats funny why don’t you see if a mechanic will in charge you fifteen minutes to remove the intakeðŸ˜
I had this problem with 2 oil pumps from rockauto for my 4.0 jeep xj. It wasn't my sender it was the regulator on the pumps that were defective. I replaced it with a melling and so far its stayed at 40 psi as its should. Never buying oil pumps from rockauto again.
My 04 Chevy truck 5.3 l Vortec engine with 180,000 miles I bought 15 years ago with 79,000 miles. This repair does not work. I have always used Valvoline 5w30 & AC or Fram filters. Changed sender twice with GM oem part for no oil psi. Now the oil psi with less than 100 miles new GM oem part sender is over 80 psi. I tried the engine flush with Marvel Mystery oil & ATF. The oil did come out very black for 100 miles. The only thing I have done different is to use Valvoline 5w30 synthetic oil I bought on sale. Is it the oil? All my dash gauges are working correct. Replaced 10 years ago because Police pulled me over for speed. Told me to get it fixed of truck would be impounded.
You can do it with a regular socket, the issue is the socket walls are too thick to fit around the sender without contacting the engine therefore it will not fit. Taking the appropriate size socket and grind the walls thinner about 1 inch up the socket it will work fine and will save you money on buying a special socket
I only clicked because the title said “peggedâ€
This isn’t the video I was looking for
Mechanics. Are. Amazing.
all this crap just to make a motor run
Over "80 PSI!!" is BS, and YOU know it … Please Click-Bait .. Somewhere Else ..
Im not even going to watch this … I'm into 50 seconds of your BS(too much pressure title)
Im looking for:
"What IS too much Oil Pressure in an Engine"
This is just a dealership mechanics problem with "Electronics" (I presume? for I don't need to waste my time watching 1hr of diagnosis)
