In this video I bring you along the process of tracking down a vibration in a Toyota Sienna AWD minivan. I thought it may be in the driveshaft but come to find out I put a driveshaft in this vehicle about a year ago. Hmmm…. -Enjoy!

Never heard hub piloted. It's hub centric, and yep! It's a big problem people just ignore because janky shops just Send it!
I have shake but its front pass side tire I jacked it up and put into gear and reved it up and tire wobbles thought was rim its not replaced rim tire balanced road force as well still does it idk what it is its killing my brain 06 sienna fwd
I have 2 Siena AWD. You possible saved me a lot of grief if I have this problem. Knowing that you cannot drive it 2wheel. Thanks Eric.
Why isnt this guy wearing rubber work gloves?
Great video bro! That machine gun turret vibration sound was very audible! Also great to know about those steel disposable rims and fitting them on correctly. Better to outfit some other OEM Sienna wheels with snow tires for sure. Thanks again!

Eric, I see the front carrier bearing support has spacers installed on wrong side of the support – wondering if that was intentional, if not the u-joint angles may be out of spec and cause driveline vibration. Long -time fan, came here via google as my 2010 Toyota Highlander with same driveshaft setup now has a new OEM driveshaft ($$$) and the factory manual instructions for carrier bearing placement are a bit inscrutable.
Wondering. Is this is also symptoms of bad U joints of high frequency vibration above 40mph when let off gas pedal?
Its really frustrating to go through literally dozens of various shops/mechanics and never find this quality of work and this level dedication.
Really nice buildings in town I seen on the ride checking that vibration. Nice!
I'm experiencing the same issue right now, as I'm driving down the highway. When the problem started, it would only vibrate, or shake it if you will, at about 45 mph, but now it has begun doing so and pretty much any speed over 45 miles per hour.
So the replacement driveshaft came in an Rock🤔Auto Box
This guy is the best.ðŸ‘
Don't you sell a " Eric O " bobblehead you can use to show Vibration?
Oh man I have trying to diagnose this same vibration on my awd Sienna. Thank you so much for posting this video and doing such a great job.
That's funny. Napa slaps thier name on it. Still uses same parts as anyone else but at a higher price. Weird how that works. This is why napa is my last resort before I go to the dealer. The only way I use napa.
Don't you touch me baby cause I'm shaking so much…don't you touch me baby cause I'm shaking so much….
You said wanted to hear our tales of woe with noises/vibrations so for your amusement, here goes…1998 285k Massachusetts-rustbelt V8 Ford Exploder. Loud grinding noise and maybe barely noticeable vibration at all speeds and with the same frequency as wheel rotation…..once per rotation. Only so many things can have that frequency. Gotta be easy! Sounded like the front end but put a microphone on different components front and rear when driving – nothing obvious. Brakes dragging? Nope – same noise on or off. Ditto the e-brake. Something catching? Not that I can see – no shiny bits on the caliper carriers or calipers ..or the inside of the ally wheels. Front wheel bearings? Nope…El cheapo bearings die frequently but you expect a rumble. Changed them anyway – no difference. Front diff. removed and opened up…very clean, no play, no metal in the oil. Rear diff – aaaaargh – lots of tiny metal particles in the oil. A few tiny pits on 3 or 4 rollers in the wheel bearings and slight pitting on both drive shaft bearing surfaces. New rear wheel bearings and new drive shafts put in – no change. Took out the differential carrier and disconnected the driveshaft. Some wear on the pinion and ring gear teeth surfaces – most metal came from these probably – (because it was run without the friction modifier oil additive?!?!) but tooth surfaces are smooth, pinion shaft rotation smooth, no play. Carrier bearings feel smooth, no play, no obvious damage. Plain bearing surfaces and teeth on the diff. pinion and side gears are pristine. Backlash slightly over spec but not much – 2 thou over – and no obvious driveline clunk on accel / decel. Have a new pinion shaft and ring gear but not fitted as I can't see that being the issue. AcceI or coast….no difference in the noise…. After this video I'm wondering about the front drive shafts. They were off for the front diff. work and felt smooth but I never opened them up. What have I missed? Am slowly going bonkers.
THE QUALITY OF PARTS TODAY SUCK EVEN O.E.M
i once received a jobber driveshaft for an escape and it was missing the ball bearings in the cv joint LOL.
I have a 2011 sienna 2wd with same vibration noise when u accrlerate sometimes. Ive replaced the rear wheel bearings already and frobt pass. Side cv axle… still have that vibration noise
double like….ordered a hoodie!!! Thank you Dr O! NJ
I sold Dorman products late seventies to early eighties
at a auto parts store called Norwood Distributors in NJ. They were a good product
at the time!
Had a all wheel drive 2000 Explorer that had the front drive shaft joint go out while we were coming from visiting family. Talk about the shakes, we had a little over a hour to reach home with that drive shaft shaking the whole car all the way home.
