Miami Shop Ripoff! (New Parts they Said) Toyota Tundra 5.7 https://youtu.be/FrSsl_shNro
Nice and informative videos, but 3 things come to mind:
1. Torquing nuts and bolts,
2. Thread lock on safety related bolts
3. And wire brushing the hub surfaces before fitting new brake rotors.
"THERE'S A METHOD TO THE MADNESS ""
When you have a nut like that on the rear shock that doesn't want to turn, you might try using a nut splitter. I haven't used one for years myself but I worked on motorcycles for years and every once in awhile the nut splitter did the job. Just a thought. Love the videos
Mic good…
Ray. I think your format is more real life. I like that sometimes you have to "play it by ear" like real life!
Love you brother!
Mr Rainmann what brand of front struts did you use and rear as well
steering, suspension, END OF TRANSMISSION. (Sounds like you killed the tranny)
Use two spring compressors one either side thats what they are made for?
Dude, ain’t going to tell you shut up and fix the truck………
Big Foot approved!
Knock the upper ball joints loose
EVEN THOUGH I CALL YOU THE ONE HAND MECHANIC, THE VIEWER FAILED TO MENTION YOU TAKE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN IN DETAIL OF WHAT`S HAPPENING NEXT. INCIDENTLY ,i WOULD DEFFINATELY FEEL SECURE IF YOU WERE REPAIRING MY VEHICLE
A set of clamps for the springs would be handy
i am surprised you did not use spring compressors which are designed for just that job
Dude, enjoy your videos because being out of the scene for a while reminds me of what needs(instructions to be done when servicing vehicles, keep doing how you do your videos your way. They help me
Don't change how you work, its original
Do whatever you think what is right for you. Don't mind us, we are just the peanut gallery.
It’s nice to see that you can figure out how to work on a Toyota, “HA HA!
Me and brother had trouble with struts we used a floor jack to get that bottom bolt off and on and had to have sway bar off
Use a floor jack to pop it back in
Run a lug nut on the stud to hold your rotors square and it will make getting the pads in a whole lot easier.
This is not a criticism, but an observation as I've never worked on a Tundra before. If the sway bar end link was disconnected wouldn't that allow the lower control arm to drop a bit more to fit the strut in? That was required on some vehicles I've worked on.
Ray I really enjoy your videos, you do you. Keep doing what is working for you. Sometimes people don't think of how much work goes into editing videos prior to us seeing them.
Do you ever YouTube how to do some of this stuff? Looks like you can just remove a few bolts to get it out of the way. Btw spring compressors scare me
You explained why it became a two part video perfectly at the end of the first part. Some people just complain for no good reason.
Spring compression clamp tool on the strut? why would that not work
I love your channel. This is very informational that was just my bias opinion. That's all God bless you, your family and your team
You should have taken the nut out for that top wishbone, pushed it up, and then you would have more control over the downforce. The second thing is that you didn't disconnect the sway bar. When I did this on my own 1995 Lexus, I found it easier to disconnect the bottom wishbone, control arm. Drop that out, put it back in with a floor jack, and put compression on it.
Modify that rusted out compressor you would have to trim off some off the thread to make a spring compressor be useful with that strut tower the time it took to install one strut if you were properly set up for this job your time spent on one strut both should have been in place
Mic was better in PT 1. There is a lot of white noise on this.
These morons that have an issue with how someone makes a video need to get off their butt and go make their own! Then they can deal with the adult babies that piss and moan about ignorant things!
I stumbled across your site here while searching for info about one of my vehicles, & have become addicted to your videos. I was pretty impressed. Then while watching this one, two thoughts popped into my head: 1 was that part of your problem with the front struts was that you only disconnected the Sway Bar link on the drivers side & not on the passenger side, & 2 why were you not using a spring compressor from the start ? I have been spinning wrenches since the age of 15 & am now just about 70 and still do all my own work (except when I rarely buy a brand new vehicle, because I make the dealers do all the work, except routine things like filters & or brakes, until the warranty expires). I have done complete engine removal- tear down-& rebuilds on them, Although I am not a "certified" mechanic, both my grandfather & uncle were. My immediate family runs 5 vehicles at all times, plus friends family & neighbors still come to me with their vehicles & I usually do their work as well & the only thing I have not done is a tranny rebuild, although I have purchased & swapped factory rebuilt tranys. What I do enjoy most in your videos is that you DO include your little "screw ups" as well as all the little WTF moments that occur unexpectedly! I could not even begin to figure out just how many thousands of dollars I have saved on labor costs over my lifetime, but now as I age it is getting harder & harder to everything on my garage floor using jacks & jack stands, & to this day I still tell my wife I am going to tear out the three bedrooms over the garage & put in a lift!
Keep up with the way you are doing it!
Do you recommend using genuine Toyota struts or aftermarket? I heard the OEM struts and far better than just using quick struts.
After that job, the customer will feel like he is driving a new Tundra. Great job, Ray.
I like your content part 1 or part 2 or 3 doesn't matter to me. Some people are just expecting to much I guess. Just keep up the great work and I'll keep watching and great job Ray
MR RAINMAN IS A MASSIVELY CERTIFIED MECHANIC, THE IMMORTALLY ALMIGHTY GOD BLESSED YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
Removing the upper control arm ball joint is the secret, takes a pickel fork air drive. There cheap enough.
Wandered across your channel, love the real world mechanical experience. Shi$ happenes and to edit that out is like facebook fake lives. Keep it up. Nice job.
Hey Ray noticed in the first video did you didn’t check the hubs I saw some leakage when You removed the tires and the rotors where the hubs are at just a heads up otherwise that excellent video doesn’t matter the time you take that’s what you’re doing it for yourself and your viewers great job again keep it up👍
It ok , a real world video
You talked about balancing the tires. What happened to that idea?
I think you do a good job don’t listen to anybody else if that’s the way you wanna make the video make it good luck to you
Is getting some grease on pads from dirty hands a big deal?
Hello! I'm new to the channel, watched a few videos today and a few yesterday, I'm enjoying the content so far, but the whole time you were trying to put that pad in i was going, The piston is in your way causing the pad to catch on the rotor. lol
The hammer stab with the prydriver on the sway bar 😂😂
Take the upper ball joint. Loose
