  1. TPMS is the bane of the auto-mechanic/technician. There could be every freaking light on their dash on, but OH NOES it's the TPMS light is on, how else are they going to know they're driving on 4 flat bald tires? Actually get their fat 4sses up and use a tire gauge? Hell no, stay your fat 4ss in the seat, grab your mcdonalds drive through, then drive up the local tire shop while chomping your mcdouble complaining about your tire light being on with 4 bald tires and 72psi in a 32psi tire. Then you actually suggest you can check them with a tire gauge, and they give you a utter disgust of expecting their fat 4sses to actually get up bend over and amount of physical labor.

  2. I have the TPS601 and it works a mega wonders. Helps me out so much so I can give the tire guys more work if customer approves of the sensor(s). 🤣

  3. I’m not familiar with Toyota’s tpms, but I know that on Ford of the wheel hasn’t been in use (such as on a spare) it won’t show up on that tool. Spare might not be dead. But again, I’m not familiar with Toyota.

  4. Another mandated thing by the government to make the roads more safe. If only people still knew how to drive. If people would be able to feel a tire getting low while driving and be able to check psi regularly they would have never mandated TPMS.

  5. TPMS are nothing but a pain in the (Insert body part here). I just put a piece of tape over the idiot light and manually check my tire pressure.

  6. I installed 4 new TPMS myself with a chain vise grip around a 2" steel fence poll, 3' long- 2'x4" and a 6" long 2"x4" In 4 hours I was done. No more TPMS light. I did go out later to get the tires speed balanced to be on the safe side. Everything is good as it should be. Not bad for a 65-year-old-fart first time. lol

  7. This old man learned something new today lol #1 I did not know that their is a tool that check the tire censer #2 I didn't know that the tire censer has a battery's in them so they go died and I'm guessing that you cannot replace the battery's so you have to replace the tire censer.

  8. I had to replace the sensors in my 2006 Jeep Liberty during my 12 years of ownership. I got a crazy quote of $70 X 5 for just the sensors . I bought them on rockauto for $25 each. Had the tire shop install them. They self learned.
Now my Tacoma only has 4 sensors. There is a reset button under the dash for it to relearn. That's a nice tool though to read the sensors. Probably not something worth buying as an owner. I kinda wonder if the premium version of OBD fusion would tell you tpms codes.

  9. Tire pressure sensors are required by law in all vehicles (but not trucks and vans) built after 2007. IMHO, they are an expensive waste of time. People ignore the tire indicator on the dash, or just manually check the tire pressures when it comes on, and as Ray pointed out, they are expensive to replace. I had a 2009 Toyota whose sensors died after 2 years. I didn't replace them, just ignored the indicator. Ever since my first car decades ago, I regularly check the tire pressures.

  10. Wow.. in one hand it's nice to see a well kept GX. But trying to save a buck can lead to either catastrophic failures or roadway safety issues. For example the drivers side rear tire was the exact definition of flirting with disaster. Alls it would take is a good jagged chuck-hole at the perfect angle or the right amount of tire pressure and excessive roadway temperature to turn that thing into an oversized & overcooked rotating Jiffy-Pop.

I've said it many times and it'll never get old.. "maintenance is key to surviving the idiocracy".
