Argentina is our top competitor in soybean production and China has stopped purchasing from US farmers, opting instead to load up from Argentine producers. And our promise to inject liquidity into their economy is making it easier to do business with them because it helps Argentina guarantee price stability. As usual, there’s an even bigger story to unravel that speaks to how China is building alliances around the globe while Trump plays footsie with self-styled authoritarian regimes.
