  1. Many people have commented on the fuse tap, and I agree with that. Being on the "hot" side of the fuse is important. I didn't see any comments about the connectors, though. I was very surprised that you didn't simply take the small red female connectors off of the terminals on the switch that came with the kit, and install appropriate male terminals on the switch you already had in the dash to have a modular connector! That's what I would have done, so I was wondering if that was by choice, or if it just didn't occur to you. Just a curiosity, not a criticism. And maybe a suggestion to make things easier in the future? Idk lol

  2. 23:20 – Both sides have power only because the fuse is good. if the new unit pulls enough to blow the fuse then you won't have cruse control either. If you connect it to the battery side of the fuse it won't blow the fuse but you need to make sure the circuit you are putting in is fused.

  3. I know your a Chevy guy but just buy the Ford F150 PowerBoost. It's a generator on wheels and will power your house for up to 3 days. Look at the people on Youtube that Have during outages use the F150 Powerboost to energize there house. BTW, just think you can also power your shop!!!!!!

  4. Hey Ray I am an RV repair tech and I thought I would give you some tips on how to achieve that battery inverter system.
First I would use 4X 6V Golf Cart Deep cycle batteries Wired in 2S2P. they are taller so you can fit more battery in a smaller footprint and they have a very good seep cycle AH@20H rating unlike dual-purpose marine batters that are better suited for starting engines.
second I would use a Battery isolation manager or BIM for short. they have more versatility than just a solenoid and will automatically charge whenever you have the engine running and you can have an override switch so you can start your truck with them in case you run down your truck battery.
third I would use really beefy wire from the batteries to the inverter. like 4/0 AWG ( that's 4/OUGHT not 4AWG) if you truly have 7000W of inverter that is a draw of almost 650A at 12v DC, and like 2/0 from the alternator to the batterys depending on how much your alternator can output

  5. Using the alternator as a main generator does not make sense. 100 amps at 12 to 13 volts is 1200 – 1300 watts at the alternator powered by a 6.6 liter v8 turbo diesel. Are you something not telling yet about other planned modifications?
Would not put marine battery's in a truck and drive around all the time. Big battery's drain also rather fast and they are very very heavy. Also I wonder, when you connect that to your electric-system of your car to charge them, will that work? Battery's connected to your car "wanting" to pull over 200amps from the car electric system.
Get a proper diesel generator and maintain it; and keep the car as a emergency power-backup system?

  6. Firstly, love the videos. Secondly, I’d be eternally grateful if you’d center up that steering wheel cover. It’s been triggering my OCD for a while now. 😂
