this VèloSolex 3800 Moped was given to me last summer from a subscriber that found this machine in the back of a damp garage, in part one we were able to get the engine to run, now lets see about getting the rest to work.

I just found this and watched it. Wierdly Amazing! I just bought an eBike and it's sorta the same thing, except it isn't. Those goofy French liked front wheel drive way back then and it's still a terrible idea!! Just sayin ….
You forgot to add clips for front crash bar / engine protector
If the dime is silver, it's 62 or 63. If the dime is the clad copper type, it's 67. 64 was the last year for silver dimes, quarters, half dollars and silver dollars. Starting in 65 those coins are mostly copper.
If the dime was a 1967 does that mean the year of the bike is a 1967

I recall buzzing legally around the neighbourhood as a 14 yr old on one of these to my lessons in central The Hague in 1959. It meant independence at three times the speed of a bicycle: running on a thimble of juice, no helmet, limited to 50 km p h and survived it, now 79 in Australia
A VeloSolex (built in 1966) was my first motorized vehicle when I was 15 years old. Today I would like to have one again, but reasonably usable Solex ones have become really expensive. I live in Germany.

My guess is you are meant to ride it by killing the engine every time you stop. That’s why the brake also closes the throttle. Bring the rpms down enough for the brake to stall the engine. Then pedal to start it up each time you start again.

My dad had 3 of these all in your condition, he never knew it but I fixed one to run and drive while he was out of town, I was 15 at the time. I am now 45 lol, you sure brought back some very fun memories!!! They are not very fast, they are heavy and they do not jump well!!!!
(Message de France) On se moque pas du mythique Solex qui a fait la joie de millions de petit francais, ça consomme pas, entretien néant et increvable… En fait, le montage est à l'envers, en principe il faut relacher la poignée pour que cela accélère et la pincée pour tourner au ralenti. La cosse électrique se branche sous le capot centrale du moteur pour envoyer l'éclairage à l'arrière. Ceux sortis en France n'avait pas de deuxième selle (interdit de rouler à deux) Connaissez vous la mythique voiture 2 cv citroen, des millions de francais sont partis en vacance avec! Le cahier des charges assigné à citroen ( juste après la guerre de 39 45) était de pouvoir traversere un champ de labour avec des oeufs sans les casser. Bien cordialement.

The tail light wire plugs into the headlight switch plate at back side. Push metal tab down and insert wire clip. It's on the copper part for power supply

take pictures of things BEFORE they are disassembled, so you how it goes back together, or look at your previous video, it should stop all guessing how it goes back together.
