went shopping at one of my favorite places, the scrap yard. and sitting out front was this torn apart 2000 watt gen set , I decided to take a chance on it so lets see what we got and if it could be brought back to life for next to nothing.
also at the end is some footage of our spring dust off for our local vw clubs. the weather was not great but the people sure were.

Bypass that fuel line stuff?
Marinas sell non ethanol fuel.
It's impossible to choose you make everything look better 😊
We still have 91 octane at the pump no ethanol
If you have gas with 10% ethanol, pour it into a glass jar and add water, agitate the mixture and let it sit overnight. The water and alcohol will settle out and you can siphon off the pure gas.
I don't know why I am amazed how many times a 'simple' carb clean fixes an engine.
I love these videos. Over the past year I’ve found Vice Grip Garage, Junkyard digs, and this channel. I know zero about engines but damn…a guy can dream.
I would say it needs a filter before the pump.
Good job, great score.
Looks like the RT1 bridge from Portsmouth, NH to. Kittery, ME at 54:00.. nice grouping of old VW’s, guessing it was some kind of meetup
The interference signal from the parts cleaner to your camera (27:00) sounds like we're on a 4-engined bomber.
Scared you, and me both.
I still can't believe he sold Crustie.
You'd have had to wait till I died to get it away from my dead cold hands.
It was so friggen' cool and I'm not really into the patena craz.
That "hold on" and then foot coming out of no where, very Zohan like. 😂
Sweet Bus.
As you have bare wires hooked to your battery and gas right next to it spilled all over your bench, if I was your insurance agent I’d cancel your policy.
As I was told when I worked for New York telephone, ’No job is so important, no task is so urgent that the time can’t be taken to do it safely.â€
45:50 LOL!
20:55 I said it but you didn't hear me.
Nice video, what’s the story with that motorcycle in the background? Looks like a nice bike!
Ethanol gas is just another huge tax on Americans. Just the lost productivity and the added expense of scaping equipment that would still be running has to be enormous. Of course, you can now buy non-ethanol gas which is just more money for what we used to get back in the day. Politicians buying votes and huge ag companies getting richer.
Does it have an auto idle? Those tend to fail.
with your reverse engineering skills, you should work for the prc
Hey Jeff if you don’t mind what state do you live in
What's up
Hi
Thank you for showing us stuff like this
I'll just bypass that, why need it for?
Well you get lucky, it's my buy anything as a job and a half, I buy junk
You should've snagged those cast iron frying pans, while you were there. They're indestructible!
Fortunate enough Chicago land suburbs we have a few stations out west 91 ethanol free. Wisconsin I've seen has a lot of e free gas also. If you leave near a big lake or the coast. Almost all marine gas pumpers are all ethanol free. This is the case in Lake of the Ozarks Missouri.
check screen in inlet of carb
In SE Idaho non-ethanol premium gas is readily available and there are a few places that sell all grades of gasoline that have not been contaminated with ethanol. Ethanol is beneficial only to corn growers and ethanol producers.
A side note about Ultra Sonic Cleaners:
Having the most used fluid in there is beneficial, but if you ever need the US to quickly use with a different type of fluid, you can float a glass jar filled with parts and cleaner. Granted it only holds much smaller parts but it gets the job done without draining your US.
It takes years for a young man to achieve the tools and wisdom like this.
I have a similar one, the make is Powertrain. I ran 10% alcohol gas through it when I should have used 100 octane leaded from the airport.
Thanks for the extra footage at the end. Some lovely VW's there at that 'meet'…..
Fire it up, fire it up, fire it up, 😆 lol! There's your problem , lady, & there's your dinner!"
It’s pretty bad when you’d rather watch a two year old video of a guy saving a generator from the trash than think about what’s really going on!
