I picked up this 1966 vw bus from a barn in upstate new york . the engine was removed when I got it so lets see what condition it is in. then see what it has for compression.after that lets go for a ride in my 1959 single cab vw truck.

4 years later….
Watching from the UK…..New Hampshire looks beautiful!
during the war, a major problem in aero engines was warped valves due to short exhaust pipes. seems to me that running a vw with no exhaust is a bad idea.
After laying idle all those years that engine only seems to need a good service
Awesome!!
When these VW engines fire up they sound like something out of "Finding Nemo" …
Hi I’d like to purchase your VW pick up if you still have it, name your price!!!
Crusty is very quiet compared to a bus! I want a single cab!
Is this still in storage?
Just discovered this playlist. What happened to this cool VW camper bus? The pop-top is awesome!
Where's the boat the other boat the big fishing boat that you got from the big fat old guy where you opened up the back of the motor in a critter flew out of there come on let's go let's get with the program here
God those sound so pretty I want one lol

@Mustie1, what ever became of this engine? Did you do a video of a tear-down? Would you be willing to sell it?
How much did you pay for the bus
I have a question. I wondering if you had any ideas. My bus stops running when it gets hot. Runs fine cold. Starts back up when it cools down
Gotta be the best flat 4 I've seen you tinker with Mustie…High compression, well balanced runner and so smooth to…A keeper for sure…🤔😯😀🇬🇧
A sweet motor, good score.
I think that motor has been breathed on a little.
This makes me want to buy a VW just to take the engine out to stick it on the side and start it up it looks so cool
Runs great! It seems you can actually hear it when an engine has really good compression in the 140/50’s. This engine sounds excellent compared to the one you brought back to life with your used parts. Thanks Bro!
use galvanized steel hanging strap 28 gauge model 43011 //some time called plumber strip $under $3.00 with self tapping screws to hang coil on air box use short screws so not to hit fan blades
Personally I never crank any starter for more than 8 seconds per try…just an old habit an old man learned young
The one that buys all kinds of things
Are you the fellow that lives in vermont
Man, this baby purrs like you just rebuilt it! Congrats on the comp Guage. Like my old man's cellphone, nice BIG numbers. AND, no smoke. Sweet!
Seems like a good runner nice
I can't even get my snowblower to start..lol
The 'Flubber' 'Herbie'.
