A subscriber was cleaning out his shed and had this in the corner, so he gave it to us to see how it would do after putting it away with marvel mystery oil in the fuel system, so lets find our by taking it apart,

It is both refreshing and sad to see how well power equipment used to be made before we (as a country) sold our souls to china.
He's going in dry, or as we like to say "bare-backing"
I don't know what the hell you are doing but if you keep your hands steady I think the alen screw might loose up but you jerking on it I really don't know what you trying to accomplish I fix machines and I just don't know what was that
A question for you if you attach a garden hose to the intake barb will the pump suck fluid out of a 5gal bucket ( 0 pressure on the intake ) ??
Enjoy your videos. Very informative.
My hobby is repairing small engines.
I must say that is a sweet trailer.
Thank you
🎉 you are a amazing person and your videos are really good 😊 you teach us good things on your videos 😅thanks … have a great and safe holiday weekend …
This was the first time that I actually figured out something before Mustie1 !! I kept yelling at my monitor to "spin the wand tip over" to use the other spray tip… You are the best, Mustie!!!
Just picked my first small engine. Brought it home. Had good spark removed the filter. Still didn't start. Removed and cleaned carb. I now have a free lawnmower. I have nobody to thank but you sir. I've been watching for a while now.
The foam on that air filter should have had a little bit of oil on it. Might have changed the way it turned out but who knows. There is a product today called 303 protectant that could have been sprayed on it that might have kept it from degrading along with any rubber parts.
I don't know where you got the idea it's running lean, that is the perfect color for the spark plug
To whoever reads this comment: have a great day 🙂
That ultrasonic cleaner is amazing.
I need a llift table. I bet he made his.
Just take it to a real shop it knows it stuff
I would just put fresh gas in it then start it up i dont put anything in my gas tank just gas
The guy dont know anything
When you flip it at low pressure, it should pull from the soap dispenser and apply the soap. Flip it back around to rinse it off.
I Never Ever pull the rope to check for spark until I take the carburetor off first. That little bit of vaccum is enough to pull the crap into the jets. I also tape a garden hose to the end of my shop vac hose to suck debris out of the bottom of the gas tank.

UPDATE FROM THE OWNER: Just for a quick FYI…..The petcock on the gas tank does have a 100 micron brass mesh filter on it just inside the tank. From the video I'd say it needs a shot of air backflushed through the hose. The black sludge in the carb bowl is obviously from the hose, which is the original one and is well over twenty years old. I'm surprised it didn't leak gas through the length of it. As for the pump…..As per Homelite's recommendation, it was always filled with a 50/50 solution of Prestone Anti-freeze when put in storage. I blew this out with HP air months ago before I gave it to Darren. I had originally planned to go though the machine and put it out along with the generator on the curb for sale. I never got around to that and when I came across Mustie's videos I thought what a good idea it would be to let him have them and a few other things for his videos. I finally got my shed cleaned out! Best everyone, George C.
Enjoyed as always
Mustie, use AT 205 polymer – based additive on hard, crusty o rings and seals. Makes them soft, and like new. Meant for an engine additive for oil, it will rejuvinate old seals, and stop crankcase seals from leaking. Ebay has it. Works great…..
Can't you repack the valve with some valve packing ?
I’ve used silicone oil to refresh old rubber grommets on a motorcycle. So far no issues.
The diameter of the garden hose is critical when using a pressure washer. If it’s a 1/2” hose, it can damage the pump due to not enough water volume.
I bring my pressure washed into the cellar (never freezes there) every Fall. I probably should figure out how to drain the pump…..LOL
Now ya got it 👍seals always go in bore first.
