Where is your shop located, It's tuff to find an honest mechanic in my neck of the woods.
I remember when they used to change your spark plugs every year with the oil and the air filter — because the damn things only cost a pound or two each, so I was kind of shocked at keeping them in for 100,000 miles. But now I know how much they cost, I can see why they don't routinely get changed at the annual service any more.
Customer was lucky to have found you, another crooked shop would have taken his bank account to the cleaners . In my local area ,about 90 percent of shops are incompetent or all about getting your money. 😮😮😮😮😮,good job.
I had to pay my lawyer big money to fix a stuff up caused by another lawyer who put the wrong date on a cheque in my name, they put 2027 on it instead of 2025.
Just replaced the entire exhaust manifold/turbo assembly on my dad's 2016 1.4L Cruze. It's pretty common for the turbo to crack internally right where the wastegate flap opens, which is what happened to his. After 207,000 miles that turbo just said "nope, I'm done."
this is 100 percent why I do all my mechanical work. can't trust anyone these days and especially dealer techs.
Nice and informative video. You do go the extra mile for the cutom,er.
Tariffs make the parts more spensive
1.4L Turbo, what could go wrong 😊
Turbos are just bad ideas, they should run on specially made Engines.
Oh, the Stealerships? Never use them, they're a scam, use good Mechanics 😊👍 🧰
I’d go back to the dealer and ask for a refund on the diagnosis. He paid them to diagnose a problem, they didn’t do that, they just made up a reason to fit a code.
Codes are parts number at my dealership. 🙁
This car is a prime example how too strict emissions requirements destroy nature. It has literally the opposite effect for the environment.
Why on earth Ray did I see what you should of not done – Open cylinders and then you blow All that dirt and debris around, talk about doing better- Error on your part there dude… If I was the owner of this car and saw this after the fact – I would not be pleased right now…
What you could of done is Vacuum out all that would of been better or at least close off the wells to the spark plugs and keep that dirt out of the cylinders, {Grade C-} here needs improvement in procedure…
Nice tip re filter cleanliness. Thanks
I can't believe he didn't check the gap On those pluggs before he put them in.
dealers techs arent allowed too think or theyre out
and your business grows with happy customers.
I love how you always expose dealerships , you make them look like straight greedy dumbasses 😅
Complaining about poor dealer work and plays around with a dirty air filter over an open oil fill cap.
About 12 years ago, here in Australia. I replaced the spark plugs and Hi-Tension Leads (what Americans call wires). One plug at the back that is a pain to get to, I used an iridium, and the rest were as cheap as I could go, but using NGK plugs. Back then, it cost me $240. I would hate to think what it would cost now.
I totally agree, prevention is better,I too pop both these additives in my tank every year..
A turbocharger doesn't scavenge any air out of an engine,,,That's not at all how they work,,,,,,They force induct air from the outside atmosphere into the turbo ,,The downside of this is the turbo heats up the air,,,Hot air is not good for mixing with fuel,,,So the air goes from the turbo through a intercooler,,Which cools the air,,Then the air is sent from the intercooler to the exhaust side of the turbo,,And into the cylinder,,,,
That tiny 1.4 can make more power than a 3.6 V6,,,,,,Here is Ireland shams are pushing 300hp out of these little engines,,,,Granted they don't last long,,But still that's impressive,,
to para phrase Thomas Dolby, 'sHe blinded me with science!'
Another reason for the charge cooler is that cooler air is denser, and makes for a better burn. Excellent episode!
