In this video, we uncover another case of a customer getting overcharged and misled by a repair shop. We’ll walk through what the shop claimed was wrong, what we actually found, and how we got the problem fixed the right way—without the unnecessary costs.
-Enjoy!

I swear to god we could be brothers lol. We are not genius but good at what we do
Twerk specs on wheel bearings always trip me out cause if you ever press one out the 2 inter races touch together so you would have Is over to Torque it by like 200 foot-pounds to Mess it up and if you're giving me the use mean it might be a little warm and you took it to spec and it's gonna wear out. My thoughts anyway.
I'm buying those
I run my own little shop and having a bunch of service data subscriptions is expensive. working on cars for 26 years. I get away with not having the best information by having a general understanding of the way systems work. And if you use Google and YouTube say in the way that identifix is set up For a little bit Pinpoint common problems Narrowing In on key words where you look up a code and find Common Problems and Then you watch a couple of videos and read a few forms and And gain the knowledge of the system operation and what other people have found you can get a lot done. But without being said a proper Easily obtainable correct Talking to you Mitchell modern wiring diagram And knowing how to read it. It's definitely A must to call yourself a professional.
A shop wouldn't even have needed service data you went straight for it but all you would really need is a good bidirectional scan tool and Is look up the speed sensor Data go drive The thing see that you have no signal then you would find it hopefully Hopefully People just look at stuff for a little while with their eyeballs. And have a general idea of the way system is supposed to work
You ever get axles from Napa for Toyota and one side has no reluctant ring and the other side has 1 but the truck you're trying to put him on does not have Tone rings. And it's the same part number and it's completely different looking Axel are you knocked the tone ring off of it and it Fits and then you scratch your head. contemplate the saying that the more you learn the less you know.
Nice I guess sometimes rust makes diagnosis easier but I would not trade geographic locations in this business with you you're the man brother
How does Eric O get that service info data? That would be handy for a Chevy Colorado because these trucks are… how do you say it? Good ole GM engineering?
Edit: I found it under ACDelco TDS.
love your commentary!
There are three main areas delineating human intelligence. academic (eg. ability to achieve a Phd), pattern recognition/analysis, and common sense. Even if you by your own standards believe that your academic capabilities are merely standard, you obviously rock on the later two. A PHd with no common sense is about as useless as a marsh mallow walking stick. Personally, I wish your garage was in my neighbourhood.
Get tired of been a notion body up there we will welcome you here in Washington state
But you go above and beyond and care to look for that info that's what makes you steps above steps above your competitors
7:45 I think the same way about myself as you do but I don’t think we give ourselves enough credit sometimes. To be a good diagnostic guy it takes more than just comprehension. I think it takes above average common sense, the ability to quickly understand how things function, and a little bit of ADHD sprinkled in. 😂 It seems like no matter how much I try to show the guys around me things and teach them about the electrical stuff they just can’t retain it. You should see how they act when I clone a module or do eeprom work. You’d think they were watching a sorcerer or something and I just don’t see what the big deal is. Most of these guys won’t even pick up a scope because they think it’s too intimidating even though I drill it to them constantly that it’s nothing more than a glorified multimeter. It sucks for customers who take their cars to those shops but it also means that people like us will be in demand until we decide to hang it up.
Out of shape…mighr be all the ice creams on the test drives? I dont even need to go anywhere, we get donuts almost every day.
"He did what in his cup?"
I´ve always found it easier to remove the two massive bolts on the strut rather than struggle with the ball joint.
It still amazes me that shops can exist that absolutely don't have a clue, or even have one person that has the most basic of automotive knowledge. How long has this ABS magic technology been around…So… is it normal for tone wheels to rust off in your area, or possibly an axle was replaced, at some point, with the incorrect non-ABS axle?
Every single car I get is one that someone else can’t fix and I am old school enough to know how things work and 99 percent is experience.
the guys in the shop used to call me the Doctor as a joke because i could just put my hands on the hoses and pipes on an air conditioning system when it was running and tell them what problem was most obvious ,without putting the gauges on the car i was the wire wiggler extraordinaire. lol
auto zone sells a little 1/2 thick manual car specific with basic tests in it mitchells
So, if your not smart, Makes me wonder just how dumb am I, your Mr. genius level I’m our books🤓
Learning by doing the hard way. Here in Sweden we by the teeth ring and hammer it on the cv.
Retired big truck mechanic. You inspire me to keep learning. Best to you and (Mrs).
Eric mentioned he didn’t go to college. I would argue that is why he is able to think clearly.
He didn’t have his mind destroyed by the system.
30:00 Toot your own horn from time to time EricO! Sometimes its good to give yourself a pat on the back!
I also support the idea that you take a pride in your work and will do what is needed to fix the car. You aren’t out to take money and not provide a quality service. That alone would make up for any short comings.
Yes I totally agree, surrounded by morons I am a genius. Surrounded by geniuses I am a moron.😂😂 I
You are dead on. It's not just automotive field. It's all technical fields. Nice job fixing the kids car. You rock.
i enjoy the personal stuff…..sentmentalist here i’am…..enjoy the pistalrange mrs O can shoot!…..bow too!….raised right!
In speaking of The Office during your commentary, Eric, one would have to remember the infamous favorite quote, of Michael Scott, "That's what she said. 😏
And, this quote could probably have been used a half a dozen times during your video.
It can be used in sooo many conversations in and away from the garage, and I COULD be guilty of that. 🤔
Anywho, great video on a silly miss by the other shop who only had to LOOK thru the hole where the sensor mounts to see the teeth.
AND, you're way too modest. Even folks that CAN read and CAN comprehend can't always get the two to "hold hands". 😏
Carry on my brother…we'll be waiting with bated breath…👍✌️
