Switching to Linux is something I have pondered for a long while. I have had a dual boot for a while but there was always a Windows program or two that has held me back from it being my daily driver. No longer! This is Day 1 of a 30 day challenge I am putting on myself to switching to Linux on both my home and work pc.
Immediate Issues
1. Photoshop (Oh I miss it)
2. Office (Outlook HTML signatures are hard to duplicate)
Switching to Linux Software
1. Gimp instead of Photoshop
2. Hiri instead of Outlook
3. Kate and Atom from Notepad ++
4. Kdenlive instead of Filmora/Premiere/After Effects
(Yeah, I’ll have to switch back for some stuff… but what will it be?)
So Day 1 down, and I feel pretty good so far. .

Try Krita as Gimp and Photoshop alternative.
Man if I wasn't a fortnite player i would be on linux fully but unfortunately my game has anti cheat
i have a question, what setting did you use to get that transparent task bar?
2:02 Looks like your cat has some linux compatibility issues. Its textures didn't load.
Start of a legend
Where it all began
If only you had known….
I love using manjaro for writing python scripts and every day work, I wish I could run all my games properly on it though.
This is where it all started
5:59 The sign of regret.
Instead of getting forced by using Linux just dual boot it with windows and use windows softwares in windows itself. But don't update windows it might break your linux installation.
Switched to Linux mint on pc from iMac recently, but I’m strugling with bad video performance on my Nvidia graphics card, the open source driver doesnt use the card but only the CPU. Guess I’ll have to run Windows on this machine to make it work properly 🙁
Wow this is fairly recent! I am impressed about how far this channel has gone!
Using open source alternatives for proprietary software on windows is like eating a croissant with a vegan filling. What I mean is that at the end of the day it really does not make a difference. So if you really care about using open source only, then switch to Linux
Your cat scared the hell out of me
The beginning of a legend
hmmm I should try this
Look at this guy rn
And he never went back
Word to libre office is a very easy transition
I am going to switch to Linux soon currently on windows 10 i use a second hard drive. Do I have to format my second hard drive to Ext4 or should I leave it as NTFS ?
Thunderbird pounds a mud-hole in anything else for email. It also has a (paid, but cheap) plugin to enable integration with Microsoft Exchange Mail Servers (I used this at a previous job rather than Microsoft Outlook).
Hey Chris – nice series. Thanks. What mic do you use for your videos? Great sound.
Came from today’s live stream
Watched few of Yours videos and one thing I can say for sure – It's uncomfortable to watch them on big screen, Your face is to close man 😉
I have 27". Bought wireless headset already so I can watch everything 🙂
I tried couple of distros during the last couple of years. And every single one got me back to Windows(Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Linix Lite, manjaro). Until i tried Solus, I think that I will never go back to Windows anymore. I am just trying to make Origin working, if I do I am 100% satisfied.
It took me many tries, but now i've been mainly on linux for 2 years. I paid for Crossover, though for office, SPSS, and Xchange pdf. I know SPSS has a linux version, but i am too lazy to adjust some of the missings, such as include the programm to the right click and add it to the menu.
I stuck because i miss more stuff from linux when i'm on windows than i complain about the issues when using linux.
