Excellent video. Not sure why you didn’t just turn the camshafts and close the valves on the individual cylinders and test.
Chrysler 2.4 DOHC is in fact a non-interference engine. SOHC is. Valves can bend if belt snaps at high rpm however……
I don't know why you just don't pressurize the cylinder.

So, you have been using “phalanges†just fine. (I have degree in English Literature from Yale, cum laude with departmental honors.)
Don't need a smoke machine, just connect shop air to each cylinder and you'll hear the compressed air getting past the valves into both the intake and exhaust system.

Dude. PT engines are NON INTERFERENCE engines… Obviously, apparently this "mechanic" doesn't know what hes talking about. LITERALLY the fact PTs are non interference engines is why they are actually secretly good. As long as you have one that doesnt have electrical issues they are amazing if maintained properly. And even a broken timing belt wont kill them cause NON INTERFERENCE ENGINES.
I'm not sure I'm following what you are doing. Why would you not just set the timing belt back where it should be, and then crank the engine and see if it has good compression?
If it doesn't, bent valves so you must take it all apart, which is usually a drop the whole motor affair. If it does, it should run and you are done. Why go through this process?
The owner has the same brliefs as me. Yes the repair cost exceed vehicle market value BUT figure in the cost of replacement vehicle with unknown reliability and costs. Added in the increase of registration and insurance costs puts expensive repairs to a paid for vehicle on the positive side.. Give me the repaired paid for, known condition and low maintence vehicle. PLUS it has the absense of modern and many computerized controlled components (costly to replace).
