  1. He thinks "If you can't win an argument, just make lt illegal to have one"…..Turns out that ruling through fear, forced policy, and suppression, doesn't build much loyalty…..

  2. Jimmy Kimmel did NOT say the shooter was Maga. He said Maga was turning itself inside out to paint the shooter as "not one of theirs," which was essentially true, equally the left was attempting to tie the shooter to Maga to which Kimmel did not refer. The balance of the monologue was about Trump brushing off the reporter's question as to how he was dealing with Kirk's death by turning it into a promo for the the new ballroom. So nothing anti Kirk, maybe a one sided dig at Maga.

  3. Look?
Trumps DOJ and his FBI are run by unqualified and corrupt sycophants. Patel lied about his Law Degree. He has never served in the FBI before being put into the Directors position. He either lies or just doesn't answer questions from Congress members.
He really knows the contents of the Epstein Files. But will not divologe the contents
If you cannot trust our Law Enforcement or the DOJ? Then who do you trust?

  4. I was not subscribed to anything abc/disney but I was saving to take my great niece and nephew there next spring! That’s not happening now. I will look for a better alternative that a 4 and 5 year old would love 💕 so glad you are here Allison!! Slava Ukraine 🙏🏻☮️💙💛

  5. So happy Allison has joined MTN! I’m a long time fan of Muellershewrote, the Jack pod (totally adore Andy McCabe), unjustified, Cleanup on Aisle 45, The Daily Beans etc etc etc. Love love love! Welcome Allison!

  6. The rump has so much blood on his hands kirk would still be alive if rump wasn't the president. As would so many others who follow the piece of crap .

  7. The spectacle for the murdered Christopher Kirk was pure propaganda. The widow put on a show that made you sick. The marriage between her and her husband was clearly not good. She's grieving in a fake, theatrical way. She's only interested in the money.

  8. The authoritarian playbook is a set of strategies used by aspiring autocrats to gain and maintain power while dismantling democratic institutions. Modern authoritarians often come to power through democratic elections and then gradually erode checks and balances from within.

Key tactics of the authoritarian playbook

    1. Politicizing independent institutions
Authoritarians attack and attempt to capture institutions that are traditionally independent of partisan politics, such as law enforcement, the civil service, electoral commissions, and the judiciary. They may replace career officials with loyalists to ensure these bodies serve the ruler's agenda.

    2. Spreading disinformation
While many politicians engage in spin, authoritarians propagate and amplify falsehoods "with abandon and ruthless efficiency". The goal is to undermine the public's belief in objective truth, use lies as political weapons, and create smokescreens for power grabs. Key methods include:

Attacking the media: Labeling independent news organizations as "fake news" and "enemies of the people" to discredit them.

Fueling conspiracy theories: Spreading lies and misinformation to sow doubt and fear.

Flooding the information landscape: Overwhelming the public with a constant stream of manufactured scandals and contradictions to distract from real issues.

    3. Consolidating executive power
This involves weakening the institutions designed to provide checks and balances, such as the legislature and the courts. Tactics include:

Undermining constitutional constraints: Finding legal or pseudo-legal rationales to expand presidential authority and weaken other branches of government.

Ignoring judicial orders: Disregarding or defying court rulings that challenge executive actions.

Rewriting the rules: Manipulating election laws, gerrymandering, and changing term limits to maintain power.

    4. Quashing dissent and opposition
Authoritarians aim to silence their critics and suppress any organized resistance. This can be achieved by:

Curtailing civil liberties: Suppressing freedom of speech, assembly, and protest for opponents.

Weaponizing regulatory powers: Using government authority to punish media outlets and businesses deemed disloyal.

Intimidating the opposition: Using state intelligence, legal threats, and harassment to marginalize political rivals and civil society groups.

    5. Targeting marginalized and vulnerable communities
By scapegoating vulnerable groups—such as minorities, immigrants, or LGBTQ+ individuals—authoritarians sow division and mobilize their base. This tactic:

Creates a common enemy: Blaming a specific group for a country's problems to exploit national humiliation.

Energizes supporters: Uses fear and nativism to reinforce in-group solidarity.

    6. Corrupting elections
Rather than simply rigging elections, modern authoritarians often tilt the playing field in their favor while maintaining the facade of democratic procedure. This includes:

Suppressing votes and manipulating voting rules.

Placing allies on electoral commissions and pressuring election officials.

Claiming that the system is "rigged" to cast doubt on legitimate results.

    7. Stoking violence
Authoritarian leaders either tolerate or actively encourage political violence to achieve their goals. This can serve multiple purposes:

Providing political cover: Uses a perceived threat to justify restrictions on civil liberties.

Intimidating opponents: Creates an atmosphere of fear that discourages dissent.

Undermining democratic norms: Damages trust among political leaders and the public.

  9. The only thing that is wrong about the 1st Amendment is the guy in the White House. He is do thin skinned & his ego is ridiculous. We never had anyone who was before him act the way he does. All of the whether they liked it or not went along with the joke & laughed. Never once did they try to take a person off the air. This guy is not normal.

  10. I was enjoying this thoroughly, as depressing and disgusting as it all is, when Allison noted that she would not replay a clip from the Ted Cruz podcast, “because nobody should be forced to listen to Ted Cruz“. That made my night, because I have heard the clip already, and because even while Ted for once is saying something true, he still manages to be completely revolting. Anyway, great to see Allison on this platform.
